The Blue Gem turquoise mine, located near Battle Mountain, in Lander County, Nevada, was a premier producer of high-quality, hard, gem-grade turquoise from 1934 until the 1970's. This mine is now inactive for turquoise mining and is being mined for copper. Now that this mine has been closed for over 50 years, Blue Gem turquoise is highly sought after and highly collectible.
